Birchbox Vs. Ipsy
Finally! So after about three months of saying I was going to do this, I'm getting my opinion on both birchbox and Ipsy glam bag out into the world. I made a youtube video around November on that months glam bag and after I got a lot of great comments and love from the video, I told everyone I was going to make another video comparing Ipsy and Birchbox which I never got around to doing. So Now that i've made my own blog it's a lot easier to review products and talk about anything and everything. So here it is! Birchbox vs. Ipsy Glam Bag!!!!
Both are subscription beauty boxes for only $10 a month that give you five different products curated personally to you and your personal likes. They both also arrive within the same week, so how do you decide which one to get when you only want or need a subscription to one?
Here are both of the subscriptions I received for the month of January and what I thought about them in depth.
Here are the five products I received for the month of Janruary.
This is my third box I've recieved and every box I've gotten has had mostly skin care and hair care products with maybe one makeup product, most of which are things I've never heard of. That isn't necessarily a bad thing but I will say that I'm less likely to want to try something that I know nothing about. Which is one great reason for signing up for these beauty subscriptions.
In receiving birchbox I felt that the products aren't as personalized toward me as ipsy glam bags are. The quiz isn't as extensive, but early on in the month you can choose one product from three different things to guarantee you get that product in your box.
I loved the eyeshadow duo I got in this box, the colors were beautiful and really pigmented. Other than that, I wasn't too impressed with the other products I received and I didn't find much to talk about with them. I thought they were just okay but nothing I would find myself purchasing in the future.
Here are the five products I received from Ipsy's Glam Bag.
I've been subscribed to Ipsy for a decent amount of time and I absolutely love it. It's something I look forward to getting every month and you get a lot of makeup stuff rather than haircare. I do receive at least one skin care product a month but I love having at least one skincare item.
I often receive a brush in my glam bags and they're usually amazing! Another product I really loved from my glam bag was the temptu primer. I smells great, it's long lasting, and its really light. All things I want from a primer. The other products I also really loved the pur~lisse mask. It smelled great and left my skin looking so smooth and hydrated.
In receiving Ipsy, one thing I noticed is that I get a lot of the balm products which is great because most of them are a product that doubles as something else. Lastly, I received it cosmetics bye bye under-eye. I didn't really like this product because I found that I would never really use this product due to how thick this product was. I just didn't like the feeling of it under my eyes.
THE WINNER IS...
In conclusion both are great beauty subscriptions, but I think if you want to receive more make up rather than skincare and hair care Ipsy is the one for you and vice versa. In my opinion Ipsy Won. the product sizes are bigger and you get a bag more tailored to you. This was my third birchbox and after this box I canceled. I wasn't too impressed with the products I received every month and found that it was honestly a waste of $10 dollars for me.
After canceling Birchbox, I subscribed to Sephora Play! So stay tuned for an Ipsy vs. Sephora Play! comping very soon!
